Resolution

To set the configuration models in Catalyst  switches running Catalyst OS (CatOS) issue the set  config mode command to set the configuration mode to binary  model or text, as shown:

Console > (enable)set config mode binary
Console > (enable)set config mode text {device:file-id}

These are syntax descriptions:

  • Binary. This is a keyword that specifies to set the system configuration mode to a  binary model.
  • Text. This is a keyword that specifies to set the system configuration mode to a  text model. To save user settings in the text model, issue the write  memory command to store the configuration in non-volatile  storage.
  • Device:file-id. This is the name of the device and filename where the saved  configuration is stored.

The default setting of this command is binary, saving the configuration to NVRAM. Issue the show config mode command to display the system configuration mode  currently running on the switch.
