Resolution

To selectively prevent interfaces from forming adjacencies, issue the passive-interface command.

For routers that have many interfaces, configuring the passive-interface command on each interface can be too time consuming.

In these cases, perform these steps:

  1. Issue the passive-interface default command to make all interfaces passive by default.
  2. Issue the no passive-interface command on interfaces where adjacencies are desired.

For more information on stopping interfaces from developing adjacencies in OSPF, refer to Default Passive Interface Feature document.
