To help this tool troubleshoot Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) issues correctly, do not select any IP routing protocol (such as Open Shortest Path First Protocol (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Follow this procedure for Policy Based Routing (PBR) and Network Address Translation (NAT) issues.
Resolution
HSRP provides network redundancy for IP networks, ensuring that user traffic immediately and transparently recovers from first hop failures in network edge devices or access circuits.
HSRP issues are independent of routing protocol and do not need any information on routing protocol to troubleshoot HSRP issues.
