hi
can i order C1-AIRCT-5520-K9 but order not DNA or C1 AP license but order perpetual license LIC-CT5520-1A? the cost for perpetual license is $200 and DNA essential is $225 . I am trying to save money at this time but still have a controller with C1 part number. is it possible to sell perpetual adder license?
When you order a C1 controller, you will have to purchase some C1 AP licenses (either perpetual or subscription). You can add a-la-carte AP licenses on top of this.
However, on wave 2 controllers (5520/8540/3504 and any new ones that come in the future), you can mix and match C1 and a-la-carte licenses as long as you have a smart account. But note that you would get all the C1 benefits (license portability and investment protection etc.) only for the C1 licenses, not the others.
How does this work with the 1815w AP which comes with an "embedded" license.
Same rules apply for 1815w - a smart account is required if an AP lic on 1815w is being mixed with other C1 licenses.
Prasanth,
Can you clarify further what the Smart Account accomplishes in this case?
Also, can you confirm that if one purchased the older style C1 Foundation (the perpetual version), that they can then leverage those on newer gen controller like the 5520 and also then leverage their LIC-CT5520-1AP-INT license which comes with the 1815w?
Philip
Smart Account helps with better tracking of licenses, particularly when you mix C1 and non-C1 licenses.
And yes, C1 licenses purchased on older controllers can be moved to newer controllers (e.g. 5520) using license portability benefit of Cisco ONE.
