This error message indicates that the chassis temperature is above the threshold. If the temperature goes above a critical threshold, another message is logged. The system also shuts down to prevent damage to the hardware.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
- Inspect the chassis to determine why the temperature has risen.
- Inspect to see whether the fan failed with these steps:
- If the LED is off and the rest of the system functions, the fan tray is not powered or is not seated correctly on the backplane.
- If the LED is green, the fans are functional. There could be conditions that impair fan performance, but they are minimal in impact.
- If the LED is red, one or more fans failed.
