Core issue
If the Cisco Catalyst 4500 switch reboots suddenly and reports NFL parity errors, the system displays this log message every time it sees a non-fatal error:
Non fatal NFL Error [NFL] [FDT1] [FDT2] [FLD]
The system resets itself right after this display.
The system logs this error message if it encounters even a single fatal error:
Fatal NFL Error [NFL] [FDT1] [FDT2] [FLD]
In this case, the Cisco IOS Software hits known Cisco bug ID CSCsa75881.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, upgrade the Cisco IOS version on the switch to above 12.2(25)EWA2 and above from LAN Switching Software.
