Core issue
Cisco Catalyst 3550, 3560, and 3750 switches do not support Legacy Protocols, neither IPX nor AppleTalk routing.
Resolution
In order to allow bridging of non-IP traffic — IPX/AppleTalk traffic — between VLANs, the Fallback Bridging feature must be used. This feature forwards non-IP packets that the switch does not route between VLAN bridge domains and routed ports.
Note: In order to use the Fallback Bridging feature, the switch must run the IP services image. This image was formerly known as the Enhanced Multilayer Image [EMI]).
Refer to Configuring Fallback Bridging for more information on fallback bridging.
