custom RESTCONF errors

We have an NSO use case in which an external system creates NSO services using RESTCONF NBI. Services cb_create method apply configuration templates as usual. If after final template.apply() there is an error between NSO and device, NSO RESTCONF sends an ugly error. If there a way we could change/customize this RESTCONF error message? or catch NSO errors one cb_create finishes?

Not sure what part of the error response concerns you, but you can exercise some control over the error messages using "Error formatting callback"; see confd_lib_dp manual page in the NSO documentation.
