Cisco 240AC second LAN port issue

I recently purchased a pack of CBW240AC access points and am having an issue with the second LAN interface. After configuring an RLAN with VLAN tagging and creating a AP group with the RLAN profile on LAN 1, I am observing a strange behaviour where the device connected to the second LAN port, in my case a multifunction printer, is able to obtain an IP in the correct VLAN and seems to work as long as the device itself is generating traffic, however after being idle for some time and not sending traffic, it drops off the network. A workstation on the same VLAN for example can’t print, ping, or access its web interface. As soon as the printer generates traffic again, for example someone sends a scan-to-email, everything starts to work. At first I thought it was the printer itself but have tested multiple different devices behind the 240AC and anything that isn’t chatty exhibits the same behaviour. I plan to do more testing when I get home but just wondering if anyone has experienced  this? I’m on the latest firmware 10.9.1.0. I see there was a known bug related to the second LAN port, CSCvw60726, but apparently it’s been resolved in 10.7.1.0

it seems like there could be an issue with how the access point is handling idle devices on the VLAN.

Yes it certainly seems that way, or it’s doing some kind of stateful analysis on the traffic even though I have firewalling and ACL disabled on the RLAN. You would probably never notice this on a regular workstation.

Have a few more scenarios I’m planning to test… one js enabling a protocol like bonjour on the printer so it sends broadcasts periodically.
