Cisco Modeling Labs - Corporate Edition is scheduled for mid to late July. See http://cisco.com/go/cml

VIRL is being offered as a personal version, no support, no patching, no roadmap, and can be found at /dev/innovate or onePK Cisco web sites.

You can download the onePK version at  https://developer.cisco.com/site/networking/one/onepk/sdk-and-docs/all-in-one-vm/index.gsp and sign up for the dev/innovate beta at http://dev-innovate.cisco.com/

I am the TME for Cisco Modeling Labs and you can contact me directly, or post here for other questions.

Thank you very much for the updates.  There are a lot of us looking forward to this. smiley

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

Hi,

I have tried to sign up at http://dev-innovate.cisco.com/ but it looks that theres is an error with the form!

Can you check what is the issue please?

Regards,

Laurent

Hi again,

The onePK is just simulating 3 routers, no? What about the personal edition (VIRL) with 15 routers?

Regards,

Laurent

The links provided here did not work for me.
Devnet gives a 403 and the onePK says file not found.

Is there a new location to acquire?

you can edit the .virl file and run 50 or 100 vIOS instance if you want and have the RAM (384MB per instance)

look at my example virl file here :

https://github.com/amezibra/my-cisco-virl-lab

i even created a patch to the python vmcloud python lib to have inline router config (within the virl file)

Hi

Do you know when VIRL will be available for download?

Thanks

from the lack of information seen so far we are left with 2 choices :

- get the commercially supported CML which pricing is just prohibitive for standalone developpers.

- get virl which will be likely vmcloud based from the all in one VM (onepk) (no fancy GUI..)

I haven't seen any news regarding a dev version of CML branded "virl" it is likely vmcloud python framework.

it would have been nice to see at least the autonetkit gui part in virl.

I have the same issue. The onePK is just for simulating 3 routers and i even don't know how to use it. There is no user guide for it. Additionaly, i am ZERO in linux OS. Is there any viral coming out on windows OS? If not, can anyone point me to where i can download a user guide for this onePK?

Hi all

Any update on the release date yet, what the pricing will be for personal use and if all platforms will be supported ?

Hi; without any support, any user guides, user friendly GUI (if any exists !!) and a need for a knowledge of some programming language to be able to add routers to topology, how it is possible to think that the CML will replace GNS?!  maybe Cisco don't want to release individual version and want to challenge the clients with "IF YOU CAN, GO WITH IT; ELSE, YOU'RE KNOCKED DOWN". Therefor we have to continue working with GNS and online rack rentals again. I wonder why Cisco doesn't try to make things easy and always harden everything more and more, day by day!!!

I agree. GNS3 proved very useful when it comes to router's capabilities. However, one concern is worrying me though. Brian McGahan in one of his INE's advanced technology class stated that GNS3 is susceptible for emulation failures during labbing. I don't know why he said that but i don't complain. GNS3, till now, is performing very well in all the routing protocols, QoS, mutlicast, IPsec, IP SLA, and MPLS. In other words, GNS3 performs 80% of the CCIE topics. For switching (20%), i will go for rack rentals.
