I tested websites using Chrome, Brave and DuckDuckGo browser apps. The DuckDuckGo browser app on my android device is still showing adult content, while the other browsers are blocking correctly.
I am using the The OpenDNS nameservers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 on my Zyxel VMG8825-T50.

Same issue. Safe search does something but that is a simple tap on or off. It doesn't block anything in private/incognito mode either.

Open DNS doesn't have an option to globally turn on Google SafeSearch. Though the open DNS web content filtering will block a lot of categories not suitable at home for families, it's a shame that there isn't a SafeSearch on policy. It can be done as Next DNS have this option. The best option is to manually turn on SafeSearch on all devices. There are some articles that show you how to add DNS entries to point all google searches to SafeSearch servers but some routers won't support adding these entries.

That's weird. I have on my android duckduckgo broswer and if for example try to reach a blocked site it just load and do nothing. It doesn't show me the block page but I don't care . I have set the opendns in my router. To be more specific I have a Xiaomi 4A with openwrt. So in openwrt I have set the opendns in wan interface and with some configuration I force the router to do requests with the dns form wan and not let dns set by host. So even if a host manually setup dns like 1.1.1.1 they won't work. But this is out of the scope of what you mention. So maybe you should check if you use other dns on that device and you forgot it because I can't replicate the issue to confirm it with my setup.
