I want to register a domain name, but...

I'm pretty new to this stuff.

At this point, I've already set up my web server, as well built a website.

I've set my router to forward queries on port 80 towards my web server's LAN IP address.

If you visit my actual IP address, you will reach my web server, and the page its hosting. (Works, yay.)

Now I want to register a domain name and link it to my IP address.

My problem is that my IP is dynamic, changes often, and I have no option to switch to an ISP who provides a static IP.

Am I in the right place, here?  Can the OpenDNS service assist me somehow with my problem?

I'm anxious to start hosting a domain, please reply!

Thank you,

Lexi

Nope!

You'll need to get your domain name from a registrar. You can use a DDNS (free or paid) service for your dynamic IP.
