For the last few days, I've seen several computers that cannot access sites because the DNS servers are not responding. The problem is intermittent. I'm using the OpenDNS Family Shield DNS addresses, and this has been working fine for years. Just this week, it's been a problem. I've had to switch to using Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.6.6) to maintain a consistent connection, but of course I'd like to use the OpenDNS Family Shield DNS addresses instead.
Is there currently a known issue with the OpenDNS Family Shield DNS addresses? Too much traffic perhaps?
Thanks!

Btw, this 8.8.6.6 is not a Google DNS resolver and no resolver at all.
No matter, what are your exact problems with FamilyShield? You may want to post the plain text output of the following commands when using FamilyShield:
nslookup www.exampleadultsite.com.
nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.
tracert 208.67.222.123
tracert 208.67.220.123
Also, tell us what your geographical location is.

Thanks rotblitz. You're right - 8.8.6.6 is not a Google DNS resolver. I meant the Google Public DNS IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
The exact problem with Family Shield is that occasionally, I cannot reach any sites. When I run the Internet Explorer troubleshooting option, the response is that "the DNS servers are not responding".
My Geographic location in Victoria BC, Canada.
I will try your suggestions the next time I see the issue occur and will report back. I gather this isn't a widespread issue.
Thanks again for the response!

"the DNS servers are not responding" is most frequently a local problem with the router, in my experience. Certainly run those tests the next time it happens. Then try powering off the router for for about 60 seconds and see if that helps. (Or maybe just reboot it, since the act of changing settings seems to have helped previously.)
