Netgear router not accepting correct primary and secondary DNS settings

I have a Netgear N600 (WNDR3700) router. When I put in the primary (202.67.222.222) and secondary (208.67.220.220) settings and click "Apply" the settings shown are different.

Primary: 195.67.222.222

Secondary: 195.67.220.220

Does anyone know how I can get the correct settings in?

Note: I do get on the Internet with the "195" settings.

I have tried to change this many times, but, it never shows the "208" first setting, always "195"

Many thanks.

Gus

This doesn't look like an OpenDNS problem, but like a Netgear problem.

I have a similar problem as allwowth -- I'm also using Netgear router (WNR3500L) which has been working well for some years.  Always using the correct DNS addresses.  However, this evening the first numbers for primary and secondary were changed to 918. I tried correcting this several times, but addresses returned as noted below.

(918.67.222.222 & 918.67.220.220)   Also, OpenDNS Updater indicates that I AM connected to OpenDNS.  OpenDNS continues to block ads which I've blacklisted as always.  Traceroute for addresses beginning with 918 "unable to resolve."  At least Netgear keeps the correct addresses In memory (or whatever), despite what is being shown.

Just a quirky issue. Still a Netgear issue?  This router is now no longer serviced by Netgear because of it's age. If I'm getting expected results, OK to continue as is I would hope? Thanks.

Surely a Netgear issue!  But if everything works, simply continue to use it.

You can still look if a newer firmware version is available.  Also, if you didn't reboot the router recently, a reboot might help too.

I contacted Netgear on their user site. They were terrific. After about 15 back and forth replies over a few days (same Netgear tech support person), that had me try about 10 things including going back one firmware version. Last try was what they called a 30-30-30 reboot test. The router still failed to hold the correct OpendDNS address though as with jtw2 I was connected through OpendDNS. The net result after all testing is the router needs to be replaced. I've ordered a new one.

Thank you for the feedback!  Very useful for others in the same situation!  Just this:

"I was connected through OpendDNS."

This is not how DNS works.  You are never connected through it.  You just send your DNS traffic to a DNS service, not any other (connection) traffic.
