Open dns not working.

Hello,

I have two computers where i tried to setup opendns. One is on win8, it works great.

My laptop is on bootcamp win7/os. Open dns works on OS but i can't make it work on win7.

What should i do ? i followed the tutorial for the setup but doesn't seem right. Opendns upadter mention that i don't use opendns.

I tried to delete the network and add it again but still not ok.

Sure not! Your dashboard has nothing to do with using OpenDNS, only with using your dashboard settings. This effort was useless.

It looks like you didn't configure the OpenDNS resolver addresses correctly. Open a Windows command prompt window and copy & paste the complete plain text output of the following diagnostic commands to here:

netsh interface ipv4 show config

ipconfig /all

nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.

I tried it because some other guy told it worked for him, and as i changed location i thought it may help.

Also i noticed that everytime i type the resolver adresses (208.67.222.222; 208.67.220.220) it disappear.

Did he? No, it doesn't help to delete the dashboard network, under no circumstances. This guy only believes this.

As I already assumed, you type them into the wrong place. You must use these only as DNS server (Serveurs DNS) addresses, but you apply them as additional addresses for your standard gateway (Passerelle par défaut). Delete them from there!

As DNS server you have configured your router (192.168.1.254) which is ok if you configured the OpenDNS resolver addresses on the router. But as you want to configure it on the computer, this is the place for the OpenDNS resolver addresses!

Also, you have IPv6 enabled with non-OpenDNS IPv6 resolver addresses. You must disable IPv6 for this connection "Connexion réseau sans fil" if you want to use your OpenDNS dashboard.

As soon as you do it right, it will work. Simply follow the instructions provided by OpenDNS, not your self-intuitive ideas...

I guess not i typed them in prefered DNS server and auxiliary dns server. So you mean i have to put these addresses in my freebox settings ?

Stupid question but do i have to connect my laptop with wire or wifi is ok for the setup ?

Also i disabled Ipv6 but and type them again in IPv4 and it's still not working.

If you entered the OpenDNS resolver addresses at the same place again (standard gateway), then this is wrong.
Attach a screen shot showing where you entered the OpenDNS resolver addresses.

This is an option if you want to use OpenDNS in your whole network, not just on this computer.

It doesn't matter, but you have to enter the OpenDNS addresses in the network interface you will be using, of course. The wired interface is different from the wireless interface.
