opendns filter not working with social media sites

I have been using OpenDNS for some time to block adult content; however, I am unable to block Reddit and social media, even by category or by going through a list of sites. Twitter and Reddit still remain accessible. The filter works in DuckDuckGo and Chrome, but it does not seem to work on my phone connected to the network, which I find odd.

Additionally, in Microsoft Edge, the settings do not work at all, and I can still access Reddit even after disabling the Secure DNS option.

I would like some advice on how to block social media on all browsers, especially Edge, and also have it work on my phone.

also why opendns is acting up with my phone and edge essentially . i use vodafone router have already included the dns ip addresses there.

Thank you.

Hi GUNBUNS,

A couple things worth checking from Edge and your phone; visit https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ (Warning: Third-party site) and run the basic test, see if you're getting DNS from anyone other than Cisco OpenDNS.

If you see anyone other than OpenDNS in that report, it means some changes will need to be made with DNS settings, and the contents of the report may be helpful in understanding what next steps to take.

If you're using dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6, note that OpenDNS doesn't let us register IPv6 networks today, so anything using the IPv6 address will still use OpenDNS for resolution, but it won't be subject to your configured policies. So if your "Leak Test" shows only OpenDNS, we can pivot and make recommendations on how to lock it in to just using the IPv4 DNS anycast IPs.
