I was a long-time user of OpenDNS when I used Windows but I have migrated to the Linux Ubuntu distribution and will use other distributions on other pc's. Please let me know what I can do to obtain content filtering for these OS

I resolved this issue by using the OpenDNS servers in my IPv4 settings.

Hi, ddclient can be configured to use opendns for dynamic updates. It is available for most Linux distros. It is also built into OPNsense routers. You can update your local DNS settings in network config or, A few google Searches should set you up with ddclient> https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/227987727-Linux-IP-Updater-for-Dynamic-Networks
Also, it is possible to configure your router to network wide use opendns but it won't override individual program settings. As in some browsers use their own DNS settings that have to be adjusted. Such as Firefox and Chrome based browsers both have local DNS settings that will bypass your system settings.
