OpenDNS not working on Safari web browser

I have the FamilyShiled DNS server addresses set up on my router (Netgear Orbi RBK753).  It works great with chrome on my home pcs.  However, across all of my apple devices, safari will not block anything.  I have tried turning off the "Hide IP Address" setting and still no luck.  Is anyone else seeing this?  Or have a resolution for this?
