Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me what options i have for running 10Gb over a single-strand on OS2.  Getting a bit lost looking at the tech pages and i don't want to get the wrong module (if there is one).  I'm looking at running over a 10 mile link.  part numbers would be awesome as would any addition advice.

Thanks for reading

Nick

I don't know this answer for sure.

I believe you need these two optics (one on each end):

SFP-10G-BXD-I

SFP-10G-BXU-I

The optics compatible with Cisco 3850's are listed on this page:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/10GE_Tx_Matrix.html#_Toc458157390

This URL describes the single strand of fibre operation (search for BXD):

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/transceiver-modules/data_sheet_c78-455693.pdf

I just spotted you said "mile" instead of "km".  The part numbers I have given are good for up to 10km (just over 6 miles).

This means you need these two part numbers instead (good for 40km, 24 miles):

SFP-10G-BX40D-I

SFP-10G-BX40U-I

Hi Philip

Appreciated the reply and info.  I will go and investigate those links.

Cheers

What you need is Bidi(Bi-Directional) transceivers.

Notice that you have to buy a pair of Bidi transceivers, they can't work with others.

Link lengths of 10KM(SFP-10G-BXU-I, SFP-10G-BXD-I), 20KM(SFP-10G-BX20U-I, SFP-10G-BX20D-I) and 40KM(SFP-10G-BX40U-I, SFP-10G-BX40D-I) are available.
