Hi Community!
we have 2x C9500-48Y4C directly connected with QSFP 100G LR4.
One of the C9500 is running IOS-XE 16.9.1 (Hostname: B-02) and the other 17.3.3 (Hostname B-01).
AOC Cables working perfeclty.
The links between the devices won't come up since the upgrade of one Device to 17.3.3
But I don't want to upgrade the 2nd until I am sure the first is running OK.
B-01#show int hu1/0/49 HundredGigE1/0/49 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect) Hardware is Hundred Gigabit Ethernet, address is a0b4.39cd.8491 (bia a0b4.39cd.8491) Description: "Link to B-02" MTU 9100 bytes, BW 100000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255 Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set Keepalive set (10 sec) Full-duplex, 100Gb/s, link type is force-up, media type is QSFP 100G LR4
B-02#show int hu1/0/49 HundredGigE1/0/49 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect) Hardware is Hundred Gigabit Ethernet, address is a0b4.39cd.8351 (bia a0b4.39cd.8351) Description: "Link to B-01" MTU 9100 bytes, BW 100000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255 Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set Keepalive set (10 sec) Full-duplex, 100Gb/s, link type is force-up, media type is QSFP 100G LR4 Fec is auto
First I saw that link type is forced-up on 17.3.3 --> configured "speed nonegotiate" on 16.9.1
Then tried to play around with fec --> auto/cl91.
"show interface hu1/0/49 transceiver detail" looks also perfectly fine.

Had the same problem once with the QSFP 100G L4 while upgrading to 16.12.4. Cisco then writes "speed nonegotiate" in every port-channel. But this time can't solve it...
Someone may had the same problem and/or knows a solution?

First, upgrade 16.9.1 to something like 16.9.7.
And have a look at CSCvt16172. 17.3.X Release Notes states this bug is fixed in 17.3.4.

Hi Leo,
thanks for you awnser.
Can't say if it is this bug or not. Update to 17.3.4 on one side + no upgrade on the other side didn't change anything.
As I had to update the other side now anyway I didn't tried 16.9.7. Both are now running on 17.3.4 and it works fine again...

I am suspecting the issue is the switch loaded with 16.9.1, hence, my recommendation of upgrading to 16.9.7.
Anyway, good to hear it is finally working.
