The product document on Cisco switch mentions only Fan tray and power supply as hot swappable but not GBIC.
Does switch allow hot swap on gbic?

Typically, when "hot swappable" is mentioned, it means that these items can be replaced while not impacting the operation of the system.
When an optics module is pulled, traffic will be impacted. Depending upon the system's configuration, the traffic will need to re-converge.
The optics modules can be installed or removed while the system is powered up.
Hope this helps.

In my situation, I have redundant failed link on a c4948-10ge switch and gbic replacement on it should not have any impact. Correct?
I have gone through the hardware troubleshooting steps between the switches and it appears that X2 gbic might be the issue.
Thanks for your information.

If the link is "failed", then removing the optics module associated with that link should not have any impact.
