Hi,
I was wondering are there any fibre-based linecards design with inbuilt GBIC/SFP transceivers. And allowing through software to configure different transceiver types (SX/LX/ZX/T etc) for SFP/GBIC.
Thanks

Unfortunately it is not possible to use a single hardware transceiver to support multiple physical interface types as you suggest. Each transceiver is optimised according to the specific requirement, and even if it was possible to build this capability into single package, it would simply not be cost effective.
The benefit of the GBIC/SFP is that as a modular package, you can purchase the specific interface required for your application (eg 80km SMF, or 200m MMF) and mix and match in a single generic (ie low cost) modular linecard.
Hope this helps.
