Received a 15216-MD-40-ODD, but all the channels are even

We have just installed and provisioned a 15454 platform with the 15216 40 channel odd mux demux. Interestingly, setting the laser to 1556.15 corresponds to the 1556.5 channel on the mux. All of the channels on the mux appear to be even and off-by-one.

We have two units with this issue: ADM1350007E and ADM1352001K. Are we doing something wrong?

It would seem that you received add/drop muxes tjat were possibly labelled incorrectly or the filters installed in the units are the incorrect units (either way, same outcome).

How are you confirming the laser's optical output frequency?  Are these tunable lasers?

If you have confirmed that the laser's are correct, then you will need to contact Cisco TAC to help get replacement equipment.

As per this link 1556.5 is odd wavelngth

"setting the laser to 1556.15 corresponds"

What do you mean by setting the wavelngth?

These wavelngth of OC 48  are matching to your wavelngth in odd channel

Thank you for the link, this confirms that the mux's label is in fact showing odd channels.

Yes we are using a 15454-10E-L1-C with tunable laser set to 1556.15, which I have confirmed with an optical spectrum analyzer. (Previously, we set the laser to the frequency set on the mux's label, which resulted in about 10 more db loss and we measured that loss on two adjacent mux channels.)

Now that we know this is an even mux, we can use it, but thanks again and I will report this to Cisco TAC so they are aware of the problem.

The bad news in using the Mux/Demux in its current configuration is the future confusion caused by the incorrect port frequency labelling; especially for other of future technicians.

Glad to hear you were using tunable lasers for this application.
