Router Specification for Connecting to SDH Network

I am new to optical networking and would like to know what options are available for connecting four offices over an SDH transport network.

Basically, I have been advised that we have an SDH transport network consisting of an STM1/STM4 access ring connecting each of the four sites together, with an ADM16/ADM1 at each of the sites.

I have been asked to provide a router and/or switch specification that would be required at each of the four sites that would allow IP connectivity between the sites over this SDH network.

What are my options…???

Which router, plus interface, would I need to connect into this SDH network?

Please let me know if you require any further information. I would appreciate links to relevant sites.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is a link to the product literature for the optical platforms that Cisco offers. If you have additional questions after looking through this information, you can re-post to this forum:

If the requirement is purely for IP transport over a provisioned SDH infrastructure, you may want to look at Packet over SONET/SDH (POS).

POS interfaces are available for range of Cisco routers including 7200, 7400, 7600 up to 12000.

and some more info here:
