SFP Compatibility

I am going to buy following equipment and interesting if they will support each other ?

WS-C3750V2-24FS-S with 12 X GLC-FE-100FX on one side and ESW-520-24-K9 with MFEFX1 on another side? Question is Will this SFP(GLC-FE-100FX) work with (MFEFX1) SFP ?

Also Can you please give me any tips, what I should check when choosing correct SFP?

Both of the SFP models you mentioned are 100Base-FX compliant, so you should have no problem interconnecting them.

Typically, the things you need to check when selecting an SFP is:

1. Fiber type matches data sheet.  These SFPs require standard multimode fiber.

2. Fiber length meets data sheet.  The specification is <2 km for these SFPs.

3. Clean the connectors before inserting them into any optical port (patch panel, SFP port, test equipment, etc).

In some cases, you can run into problems if your fiber link has an unusually high optical loss due to intermediate connectors, splices or severe bends.  A fiber optic test set (FOTS) can confirm the fiber is good.

Hopefully, this helps.

Thank you for helping.

What about  Wavelength, it should match on both ends or not ?

Forgot about that.  It is best to make sure that each end of the link uses the same type of interface (wavelength, reach, fiber type).

Sometimes, when using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), the wavelength will be different at each end so the link can operate over a single fiber. But that is another story....
