Starting A Optical Networking Career

I am new to the community discussions.  I recently earned a 2 year degree in Lasers and Photonics at a local community college.  I would like some advice on what would be the most appropriate study material, for a career in Cisco Optical Networking. Any advice?

The optical (SONET, SDH) and data networks are converfing moer and more these days.

Getting your Cisco certifications is always a good idea and opens doors for job opportunities.

Start with your CCNA, then CCNP and CCIE.

Even though your degree is in Lasers and Photonics, the certifications will provide a good background and understanding of how these devices will be used.
