System reboot issue on Cisco 3850U upon transceiver removal

Hello expert,
Recently, I removed the SFP 10G fibre transceiver module from our distribution switches while it was in operation. Our distribution switches are in stack mode. Upon removal, the primary switch rebooted without warning (fortunately, the secondary switch is still running). I'm surprised and wondering what's happening. The SFP transceiver should be hot-swappable and shouldn't affect the operation of the switches.
Anyway, here is the software version which is currently in use,
WS-C3850-48U
CAT3K_CAA-UNIVERSALK9 16.6.2

So, is there any reason why it rebooted after I removed the SFP transceiver?
Thank you very much.
Alex

  - That could be a bug , use latest advisory release : https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284455424/type/282046477/release/Gibraltar-16.12.10a and check if that can help.

You could also attach a console and check what exactly is seen when the device reboots  .
