HX Stretched Cluster VMware HA configuration

Hi,

Just looked at HX Stretched Cluster Installation Guide and I am a little bit confused about VMware HA configuration. The guide advises to set two isolation addresses to:

das.isolationaddress0 - IP address on Stretch Cluster network on site A (typically the cluster management IP)

das.isolationaddress1 - IP address on Stretch Cluster network on site B (typically the cluster management IP)

My doubts:

1) there is only one cluster mgmt IP address

2) assigning ESXi mgmt IP addresses as isolation addresses does not make sense because Master Host in cluster pings Slave Hosts by default, before isolation address is pinged

3) assigning SCVM mgmt IP addresses maybe is more reasonable but the communication still relies on mgmt network

From this perspective, replacing default isolation address which is GW is not too beneficial.

Any thoughts and comments appreciated.

Hi   jkbkmiecik,

for each one you can define by these options:

IP address of the eth0 interface of a storage controller on site A, IP address of the stretch cluster on complimentary site A, or virtual IP address of complimentary site A Fabric Interconnect (FI).

probably you need to type the VIP of the FI's for each site.
