2600 Serie and NM-16ESW

Hello,

I need to install a 16 port switch module in a 2600 serie router.

I've seen that the lowest IOS version for this module is 12.2(2)XT and ordered a feature pack to have at least that version. The feature pack I got is 12.3(6c), I donwloaded it to the router, but I still can't use the NM-16ESW card.

from the show diag I have the following :

Anybody knows why I can't get that Network module running. I have installed it on some other ( brand new compared to this one ) 2600 serie routers and didn't have any problem.

You need the at least the IP-plus feature set. IP-basic will not do it.

then why was I able to make the module work with 2600 serie routers just out of the box ?

I can only guess. Maybe the IOS in the box was IP-plus, and your new 12.3(6c) is IP only. What are the image file names? if the new image file name has an "-i-" in it then it is IP-only. Please could you do a show version for both old and new, or do a show flash.

the 12.3(6c) is an IP only.

IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-I-M), Version 12.3(6c), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

....

System image file is "flash:c2600-i-mz.123-6c.bin"

I don't have direct access for the 'out of the box ones' though I expect to have the information later today.

anyway, thanks for the information about the versions.
