2621 and service compress-config

using a 2621 and a number of acl's and static routes, I was forced to compress the config to save it. My question is, what is the compression ratio? Also, is there a way to up the NVRAM to something above the 32k that it comes with?

You may also want to increase the boot buffer size . boot buffersize xxxxxx

I've never used that command. How will it help? will it allow me to increase the NVRAM size?

From what I can see, the "boot buffersize" command only changes the size of the buffer allocate in RAM to hold the config downloaded from the network, and this will not help in your case (although, it does raise aninteresting point - have you considered having the config stored on a server instead of in NVRAM?!). The NVRAM size is fixed in all of the platform that I have worked on (although I seem to remember that there was an upgrade avialable for the AGS+), but I do seem to remember someone replacing the Dallas Semiconductors chip on a 4500 with a larger one and claiming that the extra space showed up!

Thanx for the input. I did some polking around on the "boot buffersize" and from what I see, I can store the config in flash, if there's enough room. you have to change the boot statement to reflect that the config is now located in flash. I'll give this a try this weekend. I'll also investigate if I can save the config to a server, as well. Technically I can do it, but it's not the norm around here so I have to run it up the chane of command.
