I have been trying to find info as to why someone would want to setup IPs on their switches. How does it effect the network? What is the benifits from doing so? Is it recommended?
Currently on a network with several 2900XL switches, but IP isn't setup. I feel this might help network, but I need to be able to define why to Admin, Please help me better to understand so that I can tell him so he understands. The more information I get the better. Any references to docs that would describe why would also be helpfull.
