2950T-24 Cascade problems.....I think!!

I have two 2950T-24 switches. The problem config is as follows.

I have the two switches cascaded on the Gi0/2 ports. Then I have 2 servers on the remaining Gi0/1 ports. I have 192.168.1.4 set as the command switch and then 192.168.1.5 set at the member switch. All ports are set to VLAN1.

The problem is that after some amount of time 192.168.1.5 will lockup and not function. In the cluster management suite it will turn red and thus not respond. I just want to make sure that it is a possible hardware issue and not a config issue. Thanks

I would also like to add the switches do work with a crossover cable. The command switch sees the member hub. I have since emptied as many ports as possible, I have also detached any gigabit ports and have connected the two switched via a 10/100 port. Also, I have checked the fan thinking it might be a heat problem and it does work.

I am still having the same problem in this config. The odd thing is that is seems to pass packets but I can not ping the switch itself and it shows up red on the management suite.

I am leaning more and more to a "new" faulty switch.

Any advice or ideas to try would be appreciated.

Thank You
