Hi experts,
I have configured a trunk between a MGX8250 (using the STM-1 trunk port ) and MGX8850 STM-1 board, to pass traffic from E1 ports to STM-1 ports. We have almost completed the available bandwidth of the trunk and we want to add more links to the trunk ( another STM-1 port of the trunk board ). We do not have a clear procedure to do that. Can someone help us ?
thanks in advanced,
regards.
Javier.

Hello, Javier.
First of all I need to know if your MGX is running with PXM1 not PXM45.
If you're using PXM1(or PXM1E),there is no way to addon another STM-1 link to the node.
As you know two STM-1 port on two PXM card(Active&Standby) is used as redundunt with Y-cable.
So logically, PXMs has just one port.(You can't make it seperatly.)
And also, if you using PXM1 module, there is no STM-1 service module which is inserted on the MGX node with it.
I hope this is usefull.

Thanks Brandon for your response.
We have a PXM1 4-155 board in the MGX8250, with a 4 STM-1 ports i/o interface. Currently just only one is configured as a trunk. As you mentioned there is a limitation, so the question is if those 4 ports are used only for backups not for add bandwidth to the trunk.

Javier.

Javier,
Sorry, I'v just thought about PXM1 with only 1 port.
You can use the 4 ports on the PXM1+4STM1 card.
In other words, you could have 4 trunks between two MGXs.
Active & Standby PXM may have their own ports (total 8ports), but logically they have 4 seperated ports.
So now, you need to add another trunks between two nodes.
The procedure is same as when you add the first trunks except the port numbers.
You would have addtional 3ports when you issues bellow.(maybe omitted some more command.)
=====================================
addln -sonet 7.x(2,3,4)
addport x(2,3,4) 1 100 0 4095 100
cnfifastrk 7.x(2,3,4) ftrk
=====================================
When you wanna add connection to the new trunk, you should choose the trunk port number.

thanks again.
We can not do it, the following error message apperars:
-------------------------------------
MGX8250.1.7.PXM.a > cnfifastrk 7.2 ftrk
A feeder interface already exists.
Use uncnfifastrk to delete existing intfc
Set failed due to illegal option value(s)
Syntax: cnfifastrk
--------------------------------------------
it seems like it supports just only one trunk.

Yes, I've heard that before.
It only supports one trunk.
The other STM-1s can be configured as lines
for stand-alone setups.

If MGX can't make more than one trunk, we will try other way.
MGX can't do the rerouting between multiple trunks so, actually it just make the connections inside of the node don't connect to end-to-end like IGX or BPX.
The trunks on the MGX has just a function of alarm relay. (no rerouting funtions )
So, let's try to make lines and ports on the PXM card. (don't make the trunks.)
And try to add the connection between SM-PXM.
Although PXM can make just one trunk, maybe we can use another ports.(another ports would have their own usage.)
I'll find another way to do it.
Brandon.
