I have installed to my customer an gigastack deployed to four Catalyst.

Two catalyst 3548 with software 12.0.5.3WC , one Catalyst 3524 with software 12.0.5XU and one Catalyst 3550 with 12.1.11E1.

Because I see a lot of collisions on each ports gigabit in stack,

should be I upgrade Catalyst at the same image(3548 and 3524 of course)?

or perhaps I could be have an a hardware problem.

NOTE:

On a port fastethernet 0/37 of a 3548 Customer has connected an AS 400

which has speed 100 and full duplex but it doesn't autonegotiation.

On switch I see on "sh interface fast 0/37" half duplex and 100 Megabit and lot of

collision . Every 30 second LINK-4-ERROR: FastEthernet 0/37 experiencing

errors.

Have to I fix on configuration duplex mode on fastehernet 0/37?

Can It affects my problem of collision on Gigastack ?

Thanks

Lorenzo

You should definitely fix on configuration duplex mode on fastehernet 0/37.

But it will not fix your stack problem, I'm afraid.

Generally, it's always better to run one IOS version on all your switches.

12.0(5)WC5a is available for Cat3548 and 3524.

You might check duplex setting on your gigastack ports, too.

Connecting more than 2 switches via gigastack makes gigastack ports run in half -duplex. Maybe one of them left in full-duplex? (But this would produce really many errors.)
