Hi,

problem with intercity Lan link extending Vlans (L2) betw. sites. From Telco point of view all is correct. From our, L2 is not working properly.

We made the following test:

flush arp table

debug arp

ping address of the other site

the debug output follows:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

es3sw01sni#ping 129.39.138.137

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 129.39.138.137, timeout is 2 seconds:

04:42:40: IP ARP: creating incomplete entry for IP address: 129.39.138.137 inter

face Vlan300

04:42:40: IP ARP: sent req src 129.39.138.254 0011.92df.d680,

dst 129.39.138.137 0000.0000.0000 Vlan300

04:42:40: IP ARP throttled out the ARP Request for 129.39.138.137.

Very good explanatory document.

Finally, TELCO had a problem in one of his ethernet ports.

Problem solved

I'd like to know all cisco routers work with arp throttle. I've tested it on cat4500, but arp throttle did not work.
