BGP redistribution

Could someone confirm or deny my theory that it is impossible to redistribute BGP into any other routing protocol via simple redistribution.

I have tested this in the lab, the syntax is there but the redistribution does not work. It makes sence that I can not redistribute (roughly 65,000 routes into the LAN environment), yet perhaps it could be done if I used some sort of route filtering?

Ex:

router EIGRP 100

redistribute BGP 64512 metric 1000 100 255 1 1500

Nope--it's not true. You can redistribute eBGP routes into any other protocol (though I would question why you'd want to). iBGP can be done too, but it's not as easy, it's not (generally) safe, and it's _not_ recommended in any way shape or form.

Redistributing eBGP into an IGP with heavy filtering isn't unheard of, but a single mistake letting all the internet routing table into the igp, 150,000+ routes, would be a real network killer.
