Buffering in virtual interfaces

i want to know about the buffering schemes of virtual interfaces like multilink ppp:

- If i set an multilink ppp with only one serial interface, this thing adds an extra buffer ?

What happens when the physical serial interface goes down (because a link problem) a release of serial buffers happens, the buffer of the virtual int. is released too ?

Yes if the serial link goes down, the interface is shut no shut… all buffers and everything else are cleared.
