Hi,
You can use CW2000 to...
Collect syslog messages and sort them by severity
Backup your switch configs automatically when you specify of when you make a change
Compare old configs with new and identify any changes that have been made
Automatically discover new devices as they are added to your network
View various reports to discover device availiability etc
Track switch port usage to help unpatch unused ports
Record MAC addreses connecting to your switch ports
Administer devices using Cisco View.
There are many more things you can do but i can't think of them at the mo... :(

Hello,
How specifically do you use CiscoWorks to "Track switch port usage to help unpatch unused ports"?
Thanks

Hi,
Using "user tracking" under Campus Manager. You can set an option to remove MAC addresses from User Tracking that haven't been seen on a port for a specific length of time (e.g. 30 days).
Which will allow you to make a decision (if you are low on switch ports) whether to unpatch the port or not.
I can supply some further detail tomorrow if you like when i am in front of Cisco Works?

Thanks
