Calhoun strata_stats.c low on memory errors 2950T switches

Cluster of 3@ 2950T-24 switches, IOS 12.1(19)EA1 uplinked via Gig ports.Having problems with the cluster commander switch running low on memory after approx 2-3 weeks uptime. As a result, it eventually stops passing traffic and must be rebooted. Connection to console port shows:

../src-calhoun/strata_stats.c at line 137: can't not push event list

Low on memory:try again later

Free=1204 total=4811776 used=4810572

This problem results in one of the other switches assuming the cluster commander role, but it too will

eventually get to same state.

Units shipped with 12.1(14)EA1 but were upgraded to 12.1(19)EA1 before installation. All 3 units running same release.

This is a rookie admin, so any advice appreciated.

I can post tech support info for each switch if needed.

Switch is encountering bug ID CSCec89172.

Release notes state the following:

--

The Catalyst switch runs out of memory due to a CDP memory leak.

This only affects Cisco IOS Release 12.1(19)EA1. The following devices are

supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.1(19)EA1: Catalyst 2940, 2950, 2950-LRE,

2955, 2970, 3550, and 3750.

This problem does not affect any other Cisco IOS Release.

Workaround:

1) Downgrade to 12.1(14)EA1 or earlier release.

2) Disable CDP using the global configuration command no cdp run.

3) 12.1(19)EA1a and future releases have the fix for this problem.

Thanks for the prompt reply! It seems to me the

correct thing to do is get 12.1(19)EA1a release and do the upgrade. I have to admit I don't know what would break if I disable "cdp" as you suggest,so

I think I'll pursue getting the fixed release.
