Can you telnet/access an external modem (USR 56K) connected to the auxilliary port from the router (1720), if so how?

The router is in a remote location. There is a USR (56K) modem attached to the auxilliary port. I would like to issue some AT commands to the USR modem. Is there a way I can telnet to the remote router then attach to the USR modem so that I can issue these AT commands?

Yes. On the aux line, configure

"trans input all", then telnet to

the IP address of the 1720 with a

port of 200X, where X is the line number

of the aux port. So, for example

telnet 1.1.1.1 2001 would connect to

line 1.

If the router is a access server, then

the X will be the number of tty lines present

plus one.
