Hi there,
NAT can be thought of as a single translation between two networks, typically private <-> public .
CGNAT is a term to cover the NAT implemented by ISP, where two distinct network boundaries are crossed to reach the public internet. private (customer) <-> private (carrier) <-> public (internet)
CGNAT was conceived to mitigate the threat of IPv4 address exhaustion.
cheers,
Seb.
