Changing Cisco works IP Address

Hi,

What is the impact on cisco works server if i have to change the ip address of the server.

Is there a check list which i have to follow before & after changing the ip address.

Hi,

Here is a link that might help some. In the practical use of this I have seen installations that continue to have problems. Basically a reinstall fixed most cases but in older versions of Cisco Works for windows I still had ghosts running around, that were never explained. How this will effect Cisco Works runnning on Solaris I am not sure, but most everyone I have talked to it seems to be less sensitive when it has to do with stuff like this.

I recently moved our test server to another domain and IP.

Ensure that DNS server reflects new IP. If your host name does not change, you should not need to modify reg files or other files, but may want to add new entry to local host file.

Ensure you have no existing issues before you do it. I was running LMS 2.2 on W2K. But a review other OS or versions are in order.

Since the server is in a different domain, I noticed that some functions in RME did not react well. So do your testing directly off the server first before you do client testing.

Also, you will need to make sure that your network devices reflect the new IP address.

We are running proxy, I had to remove the proxy setting from the server because of authentication to the production domain., and uninstalled java and forced re-install java and all those problems disappeared.
