Cisco 837 Auto-Negotiation Problem?

Has anyone come across a problem with a Cisco 837 Router failing to auto-negotiate with an Ethernet connected Switch on the Speed and full/half-duplex of the connection?

It appears that I have a problem where an 837 can ONLY auto-negotiates, and when connected to a Switch (which also will ONLY auto-negotiate), the connection is not established correctly, and one end believes it is half-duplex, whilst the other believes it is full-duplex -> resulting in errors.

Has anyone seen this problem?

Is it possible to force the 837 to full or half-duplex, rather than auto-negotiate?

You can set duplex and speed settings from 12.3(2)XC IOS onwards for 837 router. You could upgrade your router image to 12.3(2)XC and manually configure both ends(router and switch) to same duplex and speed.
