Hi

Sorry for my poor english i try to do my best for explain my question, so i've a Mac Os with BigSur (11.4) and i use Cisco Packet Tracer (8.1) for my test.

But i can't ping my router or orther equipement... it indicates a failure even on a simple configuration of an IP address on a port... when i want to ping directly from the router....

Interface is OK ip ok with subnet and fail ping.... so i connect a computer directly on the router Capture d’écran 2021-08-19 à 12.30.47.png

and there it works....  i return on my router for another test ping directly on the equipement and now it's work after ping with my computer....

as long as i have not pinged with the computer, the ping on the router does not work, but after yes... so it's a bug?

Hi,

Could it be that when the ping did not work no component was connected to Interface fa0/0?
if so, this is why in your picture you see status: up, protocol: down (up/down means the port is available for a cable/connection, but doesn't have one, or in your case, nothing is connected to the port.).

And that explains why once you connected the computer the ping was successful - for the reason that now the interface is up/up.
