clocking problem

Good Day,

I tried to connect a catalyst 2501 and a 2514 using a crossed serial cable.

Originally, the 2501 was functioning as the DCE, and the connection failed. When first configured it would come up, then go down after a brief time. I tried various clock rates, changed the encapsulation and nothing.

Once I switched the cable around so that the 2514 was the DCE, it worked fine.

This is nothing critical, I'm just curious if anyone has some insights.

Here's a snippet of the debug serial interface on the problem router.
