Hello.
We have a faulty module in a WS-C6506-E catalyst:
Mod Ports Card Type Model
--- ----- -------------------------------------- ------------------
5 5 Supervisor Engine 2T 10GE w/ CTS (Acti VS-SUP2T-10G
Mod Sub-Module Model
5 Policy Feature Card 4 VS-F6K-PFC4
5 CPU Daughterboard VS-F6K-MSFC5
We ordered from Cisco a VS-SUP2T-10G but probably due to End Of Life, they suggested the following parts:
vs-s2t-10g= or vs-s2t-10g-xl=.
From Cisco page: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/relevant-interfaces-and-modules.html
we have the following:
Supervisor 2T with 2 ports 10GbE and MSFC5 PFC4 VS-S2T-10G
Supervisor 2T with 2 ports 10GbE and MSFC5 PFC4XL VS-S2T-10G-XL
So logically, from the above, the correct should be vs-s2t-10g=..
I am looking for a verification if our assumption is correct or both suggested parts are ok in order once we replace the faulty part, the catalyst won't have any problem.

Cisco has, as of 01 July 2017, not yet announced the end-of-sale of the Sup2T-10G.
We have a faulty module in a WS-C6506-E catalyst:
I am confused. Which is the "faulty" part: The 6506E chassis or the Sup2T?

the VS-SUP2T-10G. And Cisco proposed the 2 substitutes written above: vs-s2t-10g= and vs-s2t-10g-xl=
Looking for verification which one (or maybe both) is compatible so when we replace VS-SUP2T-10G with e.g. vs-s2t-10g=, there won't be any problem

VS-SUP2T-10G and vs-s2t-10g= are the same thing. The "=" means "spare".

Ok ty. Out of curiosity, since Cisco provided also vs-s2t-10g-xl=, does this mean and the xl is ok for the replacement or based on the device's info only vs-s2t-10g is the correct?

That depends. XL is more expensive. If your original line card has the XL card, Cisco will ship the exact model.
