Ref cisco 831 router,
I was having with the CRWS hanging in IE so I desided to load the latest ver of crws. After I rebooted the router the outputs are listed below.
The question I have is, is there a way to recover from this mistake or is my router hosed?
Thanks for your time,
James

Have you tried this setting:
rommon 1 > confreg 0x2102
03-15-2004 09:12 PM
From rommon,
when I do the command
dir flash: and not see the file 0x2102, will performing confreg 0x2102 will allow me to boot to the correct ios?
Please advise,
James

The funny output which you are seeing usually indicates that the baud rate setting is incorrect in hyperterminal (should be 9600). The confreg setting of 2102 will set the router to boot the main image with the startup config
If the router still continues to be unable to reboot, it could be that the newer image is too big for the device - what is the image ? How much RAM and Flash do you have ?
Alternatively, maybe it could be that the image is corrupted
Please post your reponses to the above
Cheers

Thanks for responding.
Before you responded I was able to get to rommon by changing the baud rate in my console software.
However this is currently where I am with trouble shooting.
By the way I have 12MB flash and 32MB Dram
I'm having a problem with Xmodem failures on a cisco 831 from romon mode.
The message from secureCRT is "Xmoden operation was canceled by remote peer".
Also from the router I'm seeing the message "Timeout waiting for data - aborting download"...
Below is the output from when I start the router to intering the xmodem command through failure message.
NOTE: You will also see "boot: cannot determine first file name on device "flash:"
which is why I am haveing to put in image on the router in the first place.
I am not able to get more than 32kbytes of data tranfered before a timeout.
I'm kind of lost at this point, not sure which direction to take.

So from referring back to your notes above I'm guessing changing the baud rate from confreg to 2102 should eliminate the timeouts?
