My company is going to use cat 4500 and we are thinking about using encryption. I find that cat4000 has Data Enryption Service Adapter, but it's end of sale. Is there any parts that replace it? And, I found that the card just perform normal IPSEC action, so it's normally implemented in layer3 (although use ipsec transparent mode can also be implemented for layer2). My question is if I want to encryption all or most of the data in a switch enviroment. Does cisco have solution in this case? for example the following case:
client----switch------switch-------switch-----client
Encryption is not needed between client and switch, but want to use between switch to switch.
