Dialler String: Cisco 1600 to Spirit Panther dial up modem

Hi All!

I have a Cisco 1600 router.

It connects to the 'net through a Spirit Panther dial up modem (I know I know.. it just does!)

My problem is that in the place I am setting them up now, there is a phone system that we have to dial 0 to get out of.. I am having trouble working out how to program the router to dial 0 first.

I tried:

0,<the number>

which is supposed to work AFAIK. However, I couldn't even hear a dial sound from the modem.

My clients connect to the router ok: they can ping the router for example. But they are not connecting to the 'net because the router isn't dialling up.

Does anyone have any ideas? Have I got the dialer string correct?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Rob

Hello Rob,

when the command ´dialer in-band´ is configured, you have several options to modify your dialer string. The ´:´ means ´wait tone´, for example. So you might want to try the following dialer string:

0:1234567

Obviously that is not the number you have, but the 0 and then the ´wait tone´ symbol might work.

Check the command reference for more options (scroll down to the section ´ITU-T V.25bis Options´):
