Dialup connection and authentication takes long time.

hi,

i am working for an ISP ,

We are facing a problem with dialup access.Time taken to access (connecting and authentication process )for a dialup connection is more than 3 mins.We are using as5300 RAS and Merit3 as Radius.

Pls let us know how can we resolve this issue of getting connected with a less time.

Try "debug aaa authentication" to see what happens during the authentication phase.

Have you configured multiple radius servers on the AS?

Yes we have multiple radius servers .

Is it possible that the first one configured is unreachable (for whatever reason)? In that case the AS will timeout after waiting for a response from the first server, then contact the second one and succeed in authenticating the user?

In other words, check if the AS can reach the first defined radius server?

As I said before, "debug aaa authentication" may help with this.
